Description:
Liquid viscosity is an important process parameter in applications
as diverse as pipeline drag reducer injection, pump protection,
turbine correction and fuel oil burner control. In many cases these
processes require measurement of multiple variables including
viscosity, density and temperature – all of which need to be
fast-response and online. Process conditions and the liquid itself
can make measurements challenging, whether it be due to high
process temperatures and vibration levels or limited installation
accessibility.
With Emerson’s Micro Motion Fork Viscosity Meter you get a
fast-response, direct insertion multi-variable sensor that is
capable of viscosity, density and temperature measurement in
pipelines, bypass loops and tanks. The meter incorporates an
innovative new integral transmitter that has extensive
communications flexibility and can be factory pre-configured to
your specific application, reducing your system integration and
set-up costs. Maintenance burdens can also be minimized through a
revolutionary new meter health diagnostic – Known Density
Verification (KDV).
Applications:
Combustion Control
• Oil Fired Heater and Boiler Control Improved fuel atomization consistency with varying feed stock quality
• Maintenance and Emissions Reduced fiscal exposure through optimized maintenance cycles and reduced NOx /SO x levies
Refining & Petrochemical
• Product Detection and Quality Optimize product uniformity and consistency while minimizing manual sampling
• Product Blending Minimize cutter-stock costs for accurate multi-grade Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) production
Pipeline & Terminals
• Interface and Product Detection Improve cut-over accuracy and product quality determination to reduce scrap, waste or down-grading of multi-product pipelines
• Volumetric Flowmeter Viscosity Correction Improved inventory accuracy through reduced K-factor and volumetric flow errors
